Testing: Blue Smokey Eye

For a recent date night I thought I'd test my luck and see if I could do (and pull off) a dark blue smokey eye. The verdict was positive although the only votee was my guy who, bless his heart, says I look great with zit cream on so his vote doesn't quite count (but thank you for always making me feel good T!).

Nars has this great line of 'Night Series' eyeshadows and while you can't quite tell the color is blue in this photo, thanks to my lovely bathroom lighting, I layered Night Flight on my lids for a dramatic evening look.

I kept the rest of my look simple. Natural foundation, a touch of concealer around my eyes, pale pink blush and a swipe of nude lipstick. Oh and be sure to complete the smokey eye with multiple coats of mascara.

I looove NARS eyeshadow! Sometimes I wet the brush and use it to create an even darker look or line my eyes :)

It looks great! I found some navy blue gel eyeliner that I've been playing with recently; it's a nice, fresh change from black and brown!

I like the idea of a smokey eye that isn't black/charcoal gray. I'm still so hesitant with any sort of eyeshadow that isn't sparkly and champagne color...I'll have to work on that!

Love that you can pull off the blue eyeshadow! Never going to happen for me seeing as I'm pale complected and blonde, but you're definitely inspiring me to try more suitably-colored smokey eyes on myself. You look great (and so happy!).

NARS does such a great pigment! This is a great way to rock the blue shadow trend without being in-your-face.
