Messy Chic {for a Busy Week}

Between the humidity and rain, my laziness or having little time to fix myself up before running out the door, the "messy chic" low bun has become my savior both this summer and this fashion week. Whether you're starting with wet or dry hair this look is quite easy to achieve... simply follow the steps below!

Step 1 (if hair is dry): spray TRESemme dry shampoo onto roots for a mini refresher. This not only soaks up the oil but also makes my hair smell delicious.

Step 1 (if hair is wet): apply TRESemme flawless curls mousse to towel dried hair. I typically let my hair air dry but you can also blow dry with a diffuser to achieve natural waves.

Step 2: Wrap individual pieces around a clamp-less* curling iron to achieve a loose curl. If short on time, just curl the pieces around your face (the rest of your hair is pulled back anyway).

Step 3: Scrunch and spray hair with TRESemme hair spray to add extra volume and hold.

Step 4: Pull hair into a low pony tail, leaving a few curls down to frame your face.

Step 5: Pull pony tail into a low messy bun and secure with bobby pins if needed.

*I bought a regular curling iron and broke the clamp off.

What curlers do you use?

Alicia Lund said...

@Anonymous - I use a cheap curling iron that I bought at Target (can't remember the brand) but I broke the clamp off.

I absolutely adore this look on you - so chic. My hair is much longer, but I want to try this anyway.

Or, you could buy a regular curling iron and just not use the clamp/wrap hair around both the clamp and the shaft, lol
looks good!

Great post! I love the idea, of taking a curling iron already owned and just breaking of the clamp!

I love your idea of taking the clamp off the curling iron. I never use the clamp either so I'm going to try that.

Thanks for this tutorial, Alicia! Your hair always looks so fab (even through summer humidity) so I definitely can't wait to try this on my own hair. Love that you dared to break a curling iron! :)
