Supper Club

3.1 Phillip Lim Satchel.  Rag and Bone Fedora.  Prada Heels.  BaubleBar Necklace. Poshlocket Bracelets.

Over the past several months in Ithaca one thing I missed the most about living in San Francisco (besides the obvious: my friends) were my favorite restaurants and my monthly supper club. Three of my close girlfriends and I would dine at a new restaurant every month and besides the food it was also such a great way to experience the different neighborhoods. I miss those girls, the multiple bottles of wine and those nights so much and last night's meal at Zampa (my kind of low key wine bar) reminded me that I need to put together a NYC foodie list asap. And since I always love your recommendations, I am very curious to know what your favorites are?

PS: Yesterday's rainy weather was the perfect excuse to wear my fedora again (last seen on this guy).

I really love Little Owl in the West Village and also want to try Annisa. I practically grew up at Bar Pitti on 6th near Bleecker so I have to give them a shout out too!

The Spotted Pig
Cafe Habana
Cafe Gitane (NoLita location is by far my fav for people watching. Eat the avocado & toast!)
Frankies
La Esquina (the secret basement restaurant, not the diner upstairs)
....
Oh man I could go on & on! This city has the best restaurants!

Go to Genarro (UWS) - the BEST authentic neighborhood Italian place. I miss it every time we make buccatini with pesto. *sigh*

Also:
- Josie's (UWS and Midtown East)
- The Red Cat (Chelsea)
- Chin Chin (UES)

Soooo many. Eating out was one of my favorite things to do in NYC. Enjoy!

La Esquina (downstairs)
Bread Nolita (sit in the middle or the back) (also stop by Rice to Riches for Rice Pudding a block away!)
Pipa (part of ABC Carpet and Home - Amazing Chandeliers) - Get the Calamari!
Mesa Grill
Blue Ribbon Bakery (West Village) - sit downstairs

ABC Kithcen near the Flatiron....go for dinner and for dessert have their incredible sundae: salted caramel ice cream, dark chocolate fudge sauce, caramel corn, and peanuts (sounds over the top and it is...but in the most perfect way).

Doughnut Plant (Lower East Side)...I don't even LIKE doughnuts, but these doughnuts are the one exception. Incredible. Absolutely incredible.

The Cupping Room (Soho)...great place for lunch. Grilled cheese with gruyere, avocado, and sprouts=yum!

Rice to Riches (Soho)...rice pudding in HUGE servings (sample flavors before ordering!).

So happy for you to be living in the city! I wish I could live there 24/7 but I get to visit a lot. :) One of my fave spots is called Nook in Hell's Kitchen. It's BYOB only but with no corking fee. I recommend it more for a date night with your hubby or dining with one friend or two. (There are only about 20 seats in the whole place!) And there's a cute martini bar across the street ftrom Nook called The Vintage that boasts something like 200 different martinis!

Oh that's such a nice idea! Some of my favorites are: Friend of a Farmer (brunch), Elephant and Castle (brunch), Little Owl, Spasso, Bond St, The Dutch, Alta, and Blue Ribbon (all of them!)

Love your blog - as to foodie nyc - you must get out of the meatpacking where it looks like your pictures are taken. no foodie restaurants there!

try brooklyn!!! Issa, buttermilk channel, seersucker, prime meats, marlow & sons, roman's, fette sau...and the list goes on.

Good grief - these comments read like an inspiring / shockingly long list of all the places I have yet to eat in NYC! When my parents were in town this weekend we had lunch at Public over in Nolita, which was really great (with great cocktails). Also Morandi in the W. Village has wonderful Italian and a super-buzzy atmosphere. Also Against The Grain in the East village is romantic + wine + amazing soft pretzels :)

everyone seems to be giving you recommendations in manhattan, which is fine and all, but here are some brooklyn ones to get you going....

vinegar hill house (DUMBO): wide open brick oven, seasonal food and ingredients

jack the horse tavern (brooklyn heights): comfortably sophisticated neighborhood vibe, heavy french influence

dressler (edge of williamsburg): michelin star, very unassuming, delicious food and wonderfully intimate atmosphere

saul (smith st, carroll gardens): also michelin star, also very hidden and a great bang for your buck, best baked alaska ever

clover club (smith st): egg white cocktails, made the traditional way, need i say more?

char 4 (smith st): whiskey, whiskey, whiskey....

You look so great in a fedora and the Equipment blouse is perfection, as always. Your supper club with your girlfriends sounds like fun. I do something similar, except we do a potluck at everyone's house once a month based around a theme. It's such a great way to stay in touch, you should definitely put one together in NYC!

p.s. It'd be a joke to call myself a foodie in NY considering I was only there for 6 days, but we went to a restaurant owned by Anthony Bourdain called Les Halles on Park and 29th and it was incredible :)
