Tailored Perfection

Rachel Roy Pants.  DVF Blouse.  gifted Rachel Zoe Leather Blazer.
Zara Pumps.  J.Crew Tote.  The Row Sunglasses.  Poshlocket Bangles.

At 5'1'' a great fitting pant is hard to come by and therefore I typically have all of my jeans and trousers hemmed. I've had these orange pants for months but it wasn't until more recently (after having them taken in at the waist and in the length) that I've been getting my fair share of wear out of them... orange is having a moment after all! And for my two cents on tailoring: I always bring the exact pair of heels or flats that I plan to wear with my pants to the seamstress and I have all of my pants hemmed so that they're just shy of skimming the ground. I know this look isn't for everyone, but it really elongates the leg (case in point).

And the winners of last week's Revlon makeup giveaway are: Katie, Allison, Sam, Aubrey and Leah... I will be reaching out to you all shortly and I hope you enjoy playing with these new products!

You're 5'1!? I would have never guessed. Not that there's anything wrong with that, I'm a towering 5'2. ;)

It's just that by the look of the pictures, one would assume you were model proportions...5'9 or something. :)

I'm totally blown away that you are 5'1"! You always look so tall! I'm petite, too and you just always look so amazing in what you wear. Your outfit is total eye candy and the pants are so flattering on you.

First of all, I am obsessed with this outfit! Love the floral print & the bright orange together!! Secondly, I totally agree with you - finding a good tailor was one of the best things I could have done for my closet...they work wonders! :) I've always said that when clothes fit perfectly, they look more expensive!

Would never have guessed you were 5'1" - you carry yourself like you're tall! That's a compliment :) Those pants are darling and they look like they fit like a dream...

And it works! Your legs look like they go on for miles! Seriously though, I'm surprised more people don't get things tailored. Clothes are generally made to a median size and shape but buying sizes up and taking things in, adding tucks, or taking up hems, you can make things so perfect!

It is true that you do not look 5'1 (petite, not short ;) )

I love the trousers, would be so perfect for the beach this summer with a tan and some white pieces!

Agree with the ladies above. You're certainly 5'1" and fab! :) Love your approach to hemming pants too. It perfectly elongates the leg line.

I heard that. I'm 5'4" and any kind of trouser jeans swallows my legs! I have to wear heels any time I wear them. But I do love them :)

I'm 5'0 and I totally understand the hemming pants thing. I hem my pants to almost skim the ground too. It's the best way to tailor them, and yes, they definitely elongate our short little legs :)

Wow, you're only 5'1"? I can understand about the hemming issue, I have to do that to all my pants as well but it's always worth it.

You and I are the same height, so I definitely feel you on the pants issue lol. However, from looking at these pictures I never would've guessed you weren't tall. You look amazing!

You're only 5'1?! Wow! You DO know exactly how to get your jeans and pants hemmed right! Hmmm...I might have to try that! Anyway, great look here and I LOVE the DVF blouse!

Those pants look amazing on you! I love the mix of stripes, florals, leather & color in the outfit.

You look much taller than 5'1"... especially in those pants. And btw-- I have a terrible time finding pants because I'm too tall and lots of clothes are too short on me. You're lucky to have the option of tailoring.

I am also 5'1" and I would never have thought that I could pull off some of these outfits. But, now, knowing that you are also vertically challenged, it gives me hope. Keep smiling!!!

Just like everyone else on here, I'm am so surprised you're 5'1"! I'm catching up on your blog and got to this post and thought "no way." Scrolling through your pictures just makes you seem so "larger than life", and hopefully that makes sense. It's a very celebrity-like admiration. You can't really imagine what someone looks like in real life. I absolutely love your blog, and am just in awe of everything you share with us.
