{The Ultimate} Glitter Girl: Taylor

I'm thrilled to announce that I have joined The Glitter Guide team as a Contributing Editor. For those of you who haven't heard, the Glitter Guide will be a lifestyle blogazine dedicated to bringing you weekly fashion, food, design, and fitness tidbits / news. The website is currently in the works and we hope to launch in the next couple of months. What better way to spread the word about GG then by interviewing Taylor, the ultimate Glitter Girl, and founder herself...

1. What does a "Glitter Girl" mean to you?
To me a "Glitter Girl" is glamorous, fun, stylish, and a role model. She is a taste-maker and a total magpie. She loves scouring the world for inspiration. A "Glitter Girl" loves color, sequins, glitter and anything that sparkles. She refers to all things cool as "glittery!" She loves to entertain, read, shop, and share her fabulous finds with friends.

2. What inspired you / gave you the idea for the Glitter Guide?
I adore my blog Sterling Style and would never have had the idea for the Glitter Guide without it. Last year I felt that something was missing. I wanted to share more and blog more and create another resource for women that was similar to Sterling Style, but that was less about me and more about the readers. I debated for months about what I wanted to do. I thought about being a stylist, magazine editor, vintage boutique owner, but none of these ideas ever felt right. Then one day I realized that I love sharing my favorite finds with people and the Glitter Guide was born.

3. What can we expect to get out of the GG (i.e. Why should we sign up for the newsletter)?
The Glitter Guide is a "blogazine." It has the intimacy of a blog, but with the chic feel of a magazine. It will have daily updates on fabulous finds and happenings and a weekly newsletter. There will also be fun videos, photo shoots, interviews and other goodies that will highlight designers, brands, artists, etc. Our goal is to delight you every day. Plus, we will have plenty of sparkle for our fellow magpies!

We also want to know about your fabulous finds and inspiration. If you have an image or idea that you want to share, head to our Tumblr and click "submit to The Glitter Guide." If your image or blog post is approved we will post it, linking back to your blog!

So what are you waiting for, head on over to the splash page and sign up for our newsletter (here)!

Spring Style Inspiration: Taylor Tomasi Hill

This spring I'd like to channel a Taylor Tomasi Hill look with the rather obvious cat eye sunglasses (she is to blame for my obsession) and orange lip. I plan on living in wide leg pants and to mix vibrant colors with my neutral basics. Taylor pairs her runway favorites with Madewell boyfriend jeans in a casual yet glamorous way. A girl after my own heart! She has always been a style icon of mine yet more recently, in the midst of wedding planning, I happened to stumble upon these photos and have been mildly obsessed with her style (and wedding) since. Not only is she the Style & Accessories Director at Marie Claire but she lives in an amazingly chic apartment in the West Village (my favorite New York neighborhood) and makes me wish for bright red hair!

Have you began looking for spring inspiration?

A Date: {Bar Tartine}

Saturday night the fiance and I ate at the much anticipated (for me) Bar Tartine for a final date night together before he returned to New York. I loved the cozy rustic atmosphere, was enchanted by the antler chandelier (I need to have one in my home!), and the beautifully displayed bar. I sipped Prosecco and dined on barley risotto; he ordered a beer to accompany his burger. We also shared the brussel sprout salad with egg which was delicious and their famous fresh bread is unreal (heaven in carbohydrate form). I wasn't completely impressed with my risotto (wished it was more flavorful) but Bar Tartine made up for it in the ambiance and I can't wait to return.

Candy Colored

Alice + Olivia's 2011 spring collection has me all kinds of giddy. I'm overly ecstatic about wide leg pants (as seen here) and the whole 70's vibe in general, but I am especially looking forward to trying a neon orange lip and candy colored heels. As I've mentioned multiple times before, pulling off a pop of color or print (see Topshop leopard print heels below) is easy peasy when worn on the feet.

What are you most looking forward to wearing this spring?

Bridal Brunching + The Weekend

Ponies Wool Scarf. Crab hors d'oeuvres. Jin Wang Wedding Gown. Mink Pink Sweater + JBrand Jeans. Dolores Park. White Ginger CosmopolitanBlue Sapphire Martini + Rose. Jin Wang Wedding Gown + Four Seasons Bridal Fair.

After bidding adieu to my guy early Sunday morning, I high tailed it to the Four Seasons just in time to join my girlfriend (and bridesmaid!) Nicole at the bridal brunch hosted by Gilt City.* We dined on delicious mini quiches, sipped grapefruit mimosas, admired gorgeous Jin Wang wedding gowns and Nicole had her hair styled into a sleek and wedding appropriate pony tail. After brunching we headed downstairs to walk through the vendor filled bridal fair. I would have felt overwhelmed had I not been this far along in my wedding planning but I enjoyed mingling with many bay area vendors and would definitely recommend attending a bridal fair if you're newly engaged and would like a better idea of where to begin with the whole planning process.

*PS: Be sure to signup and check to see what Gilt City events are offered in your area!

Bittersweet

Alexander Wang Tee, gifted Dolce Vita Sweater, Vintage and JCrew Necklaces

My weekend was bittersweet. The fiance and I spent another great weekend together before parting ways early Sunday morning (his 2nd semester of graduate school begins this next week). The weather was lovely and we spent the majority of our Saturday outside on a long walk taking us through multiple neighborhoods, with a few shopping pit stops along the way (hence the new boots pictured below). We rounded out our last weekend together with dinner and drinks in the Mission. Goodbyes are never easy but excuses for cross country vacations every few months have made up for it.
I am in love with this Dolce Vita shrug, courtesy of the sweet team over at Moxsie, but even more in love with their mission to support independent designers. Additionally Moxsie also donates a percentage of your purchase to the charity of your choice!

Reading Material + Lanvin Pre-Fall 2011

The coffee table books I ordered off Amazon arrived in the mail today right along with my February issue of Marie Claire. Wednesday night reading material just doesn't get much better than that folks, simply add a glass of Cabernet. Additionally I managed to squeeze in a little pre-fall 2011 perusing and have concluded that these images are some of my favorite looks from Lanvin. I especially loved Alber Elbaz's use of animals... and now I want to walk a tiger and own a pet bunny (not so sure how the fiance would feel about this).

Leopard on Leopard

Banana Republic Blouse, Ann Taylor Sweater, JCrew Belt & Necklace, gifted DL1961 Jeans, Vintage Miu Miu Wedges

Saturday I wore this little leopard on leopard (on even more leopard if you count the belt!) ensemble out to lunch. I have owned both the blouse and sweater for over 2, maybe 3 years and yet have never worn the two together. I think the light and dark leopard prints make for a nice contrast. Have you tried mixing the same print together?

*Oh and I must mention my new DL 1961 jeans that I have been living in for the past week. I'm loving the cropped fit (and the fact that I didn't have to get them hemmed) which perfectly accents any pump or wedge I wear!

Specs a la Nicole Richie

Currently Craving: Oversized Cat Eye Sunglasses (especially this pair by Cutler and Gross)
a la Nicole Richie with a granny chic Jonathan Adler case to go with them.

Girls with Blogs + Weekend Recap

I kicked off this past weekend with some lovely blogging ladies and cocktails (champagne for me, I've had quite the bubbly obsession lately). I enjoyed mingling with everyone and ogling all the cute outfits, necklaces in particular (see Heather's feather necklace and Tara's fab bling below). Saturday morning I jumped in my car and drove home for a quick visit with my family and the fiance, he's in California for one more week before flying off to New York. Between leisure lunches and a yummy mexican dinner downtown I managed to fit in some magazine reading and purchased this shearling leopard print fabric that I can't wait to use in an upcoming project. Another great weekend that went by too quickly.
How was your weekend?

Snag the Look: Wide Leg

I've always been a fan of wide leg pants, jeans in particular. My love affair began in high school (aka my Abercrombie and Fitch days) and continued on since. As much as I enjoy a great fitting pair of skinnys, I'll undoubtedly choose wide leg over skinny any day. They are the ultimate Saturday jean if you ask me! Pair your jeans with a billowy blouse and you're instantly put together with little effort and plenty of comfort. Aren't the bows on this cream blouse cute - I'm officially smitten! And I added the red lipstick to work in that touch of red.
