Rainy Day Wear

Banana Republic Trench. Alice + Olivia Sweater. gifted BB Dakota Pants.  Zara Heels. Linda Farrow for The Row Sunglasses. Alexander Wang Bag.

I went from a weekend maxi back to my trench coat and fur (those night walks with the fiance aren't happening after all thanks to the rain). Speaking of the guy, we're having a difficult time choosing a first dance song. They're all too slow or too sappy. We're more of a fast song type of couple who will most likely laugh and sing along the entire time. Open to suggestions.

@Danielle - I love that song!!

I second Danielle's suggestion! That isn't our song, but it's the song we plan to "enter as a married couple" to because it's so happy :)

I was just talking about you + these pants this weekend! I was out shopping with a friend and she held them up and I said I had tried them on and they were terrible on me but that "Cheetah is the New Black" has them & they look so cute on her! ;)

Is that fur collar part of the trench? It's so luxe! Absolutely gorgeous.

Also, are we talking fast like Barry White's "Can't Get Enough of Your Love, Babe"?

You look wonderful! So glamourous! I love the trench!

Send the rain our way, we have had bad forest fires here and a whole town has been burnt to the ground almost :(.

Have a wonderful week, I am glad your fiance is there with you!

you look so glamorous!! i love ray lamontagne. i also think regina spektor's "real love," katie herzig's "sweeter than this," and the moldy peaches' "anyone else but you" are really romantic. or you could do a classic jazz standard from the 40's-50's to get a bit of a swing feel, or maybe a mo-town love song for a bit more upbeat?

perfect coat! you look amazing in it!

You look incredibly fashionable even on a rainy day. Awesome!
In terms of suggestions for your song, I am a big Sinatra fan so anything with Frank is a great pick in my book.

We went for a fast song for our wedding, it was far more representative of us.

How about ABC - Jackson 5? I think it would make a fabulous first dance!

Absolutely love this outfit. It's been raining here non stop as well (in NYC) so this is great inspiration. I'm at a loss of what to wear when it's so gross outside! I wish I had a good song suggestion but honestly I'm not very good with music. Good luck finding a song! Can't wait to hear what it is.

Choose a silly song that means something to the both of you! My boyfriend's and my "song" is called "Rats in the City." NOT romantic at all, but it reminds us of being young and laughing together.

You've clearly got some amazing song recs, but I just wanted to say how gorgeous you look. LOVE the first picture!

Sarah said...

You are stunning! Is that fur collar on the trench or is it a separate piece? As far as song suggestions go, I recommend 'To Make You Feel My Love' by Adele or 'Ain't No Mountain High Enough' for something a bit faster.

City and Colour - "The Girl". It starts out slower, but picks up! The lyrics are the cutest, too :0)

The first pic of you is so beautiful! I'm SO sick of the rain, today was our first day of sun in daysss, but it starting raining after supper :(

We danced to Meant to Be by the Squirrel Nut Zippers. We wanted most of the music to feel timeless and their music is just that. They have some faster fun songs that could work, especially if you're good dancers! let us know what you go with!! xo

Alicia said...

@Sarah - the fur is attached to the Alice + Olivia sweater I'm wearing underneath my trench!

hi alicia! we danced to a beautiful reggae song called "lovin' man" by hepcat. we also struggled to find one that was fun and danceable, yet still meaningful and romantic. we were listening to a hepcat album one day when lovin' man came on and we turned to each other and said - this is it! you'll find yours too! xo

Wow, I wish I looked this chic when strolling in the rain (which is currently coming down in bucket loads!) but somehow my hair gets frizzy and the umbrella ends up breaking! Sheesh! But I love love love this trench, that fur collar is gorgeous!

And I can't think of any song suggestions right now, but I'll be on the lookout. Can't wait to hear what you choose! xx
