A Date: {Bar Tartine}

Saturday night the fiance and I ate at the much anticipated (for me) Bar Tartine for a final date night together before he returned to New York. I loved the cozy rustic atmosphere, was enchanted by the antler chandelier (I need to have one in my home!), and the beautifully displayed bar. I sipped Prosecco and dined on barley risotto; he ordered a beer to accompany his burger. We also shared the brussel sprout salad with egg which was delicious and their famous fresh bread is unreal (heaven in carbohydrate form). I wasn't completely impressed with my risotto (wished it was more flavorful) but Bar Tartine made up for it in the ambiance and I can't wait to return.

I love these small intimate Bistro style restaurants!!! Boo on the not-great risotto, but YAY to a date with your Hunny! Happy Friday!

Hi, this is my first time to comment (I think) but I really like your blog! It sounds like you and your fiance have the opposite of what I have right now. Living in NYC and boyfriend is in SF for three months working. The distance is hard as I'm sure you know, but having fun wknds together like this make up for it in a big way. I was in SF last weekend too and we had a great time, love your city! We ate at Bistro Central Parc and really enjoyed, this place reminds me a little of it.

@Lauren - Thanks so much for your comment... great to hear other couples making cross country long distance work! I've never been to Bistro Central Parc, I'll have to give it a try soon!

@Michelle - Yes he's in grad school in New York right now and I just may be leaving the best coast... haha ;)

Sad the risotto was not impressive! I made an easy to make quinoa risotto with mushrooms and it bursted with flavor- http://rens-table-for-ten.blogspot.com/2011/01/first-supper-results.html

(Perhaps you should tell Tartine about it hehe)

This place looks like sheer heaven - dimly lit, well-decorated, laid back and intimate. We need a trip to SF to visit these wonderful restaurants you go to!

Have a great weekend, Alicia!
