Cafe Gitane {Fashionista Central}

And the New York recap continues...
Saturday morning we walked from Soho to Nolita and grabbed brunch at Cafe Gitane.* The food was yummy but the scene was even yummier. This quaint neighborhood cafe is hustling and bustling with fashionistas, it is quite the people watching experience (I spotted Freja Beha Erichsen waiting outside as we left). Despite her size and the brisk weather she was impressively wearing a thin tee shirt and leather jacket. It was at this very cafe that I turned to the fiance and said: "I could really get used to the New York lifestyle..."
*Side Note: I really love that you can walk from neighborhood to neighborhood in New York without encountering any hills. Walking a mile seems like a piece of cake in New York, where as if in San Francisco I will only do it if a) I'm wearing flats or b) It's all down hill.

The city life is so great. I miss it terribly, although when I lived in the city, I lived in San Diego which is so tiny in comparison to new York! That cafe food looks so yummy!

EEEKS, I think we could move there then when the boys are ready they could too!!! That food looks great, I love NoLita - when I was there my Mom and I ate at this totally not-fussy cute little mom and pop restaurant - and of course it was amazing! I HRT NYC!

YUM. I've been meaning to go to Cafe Gitane for a while, but every time I happen upon it it's excessively crowded. Maybe the key is to try it out for brunch! Thank you for sharing!

Funny-as it turns out, there are fabulous Gitane's on both coasts! Have you been to the one in SF? The food looks absolutely divine, but I'm with you when it comes to dressing for NYC brunches-put on a serious coat AND a sweater!

cafe gitane is definitely the best people watching in the city. i once ate brunch next to anne hathaway (even though i didn't notice for about 40 minutes). plus, it's totally under the radar and the food is amazing - i'm pretty sure i've had the couscous you photographed and it doesn't disappoint :)
