I have admitted before (I'm sure numerous times) on this blog that I am not a makeup pro and in fact need a little tutorial from time to time. Fortunately, thanks to my lovely mother who sent my sister and I Sephora gift cards, I was able to upgrade my makeup stash for fall. I decided to make the most of my "upgrade" by having my makeup done by one of their professionals who taught me a few handy dandy tricks, like what color goes in the crease etc. Yes I'm that clueless when it comes to experimenting with new colors. Sunday afternoon I spent an embarrassing amount of time practicing and playing with my new eye shadows, and I think I may be getting the hang of this. Oh, and I purchased my very first liquid eye liner. Big steps people, big steps!

Love the lip colors you picked. I am also not too much into make up so I try to keep it simple, but I can always use new tips.
What great choices!! I love Nars for lip color. Cheap red lipstick can go verryyy wrong but Nars is always perfect! And once you get the hang of liquid liner you'll love it : )

hahaha you are so cute! I am the same way when it comes to experimenting with new colors! Eyeshadow can be very intimidating, haha. And I always need a lesson, and even then it takes a while before I can do it on my own. Maybe it's a Valponi thing :) I love your new colors!!

Lucky girl! My mom never wore makeup, so when I was little I would spend hours playing with makeup in trial and error sessions. One night, I even made up my little brother and I as the characters from CATS!
After years of experimenting, I've got a fresh faced and a formal look, and I think it's all I'll ever master!

I'm in serious need of some makeup tips. Every single time I buy new makeup, I have them give me a makeover at the counter and tell me some tips. Then I get home and try to recreate it myself but I end up looking like a tranny. How does this happen?? I love your new lipstick colors!

oh i'm so with you - totally clueless about makeup. my fashion designer friends have tried to teach me, but i don't experiment enough to remember the lessons i've learned. i've grown to realize though, that with the right makeup, even the basics will look gorgeous.
so... when will we get to see your face? :)

Alicia, your mom is so thoughtful! It must have been so nice to treat yourself! Enjoy your new stash! I love having a collection of items from just a few brands. That prevents me from getting overwhelmed. I love the coordinated packages too. Nars has such sleek packages. I might just have to make room for a few of their products. ;)

Ooooh thanks for posting your new make-up! I love the names of make-up, Jessica at What I wore has been wearing a Nars lipstick called Funny Face, which makes me want to buy it! Also I use Mac fluid liner for eyeliner. You buy a liner brush and then Fluid line which comes in a pot. It's way easier for me to use because I have such shaky hands. Good luck with your eyeliner!
