I have concluded that it is important I start a coffee table book collection, considering I will have my own place to fully decorate as I please once married. Not only are coffee table books perfect accent pieces, but I think it is of utmost importance that I provide reading material for my guests. I was recently given In Vogue (a comprehensive book on Vogue Magazine) as the start to my collection. What coffee table books do you own and recommend I incorporate in my wish list?

i like anything classic or quirky. right now, i have this book called "boring postcards" on my coffee table (along with some others)--it's kind of hilarious. it's fun to shop for these kind of books at used bookstores!

p.s HAPPY BIRTHDAY for the other day :)
I just started my collection when I moved in with my boyfriend a couple months ago. Currently it includes only Taschen's London and the Hummingbird Bakery Cookbook, but in my defense our coffee table is small!
I highly recommend any book in the Taschen series though; they're full of beautiful images of restaurants, hotels, and shops. Just pick your favorite city!
@Alyssa, oh yay, thanks for the rec I've never heard of Taschen I'll definitely look into this series.
coffee table books are a must. and they can tell so much about a person! i have a few, most are photography related. i have an ansel adams one, photo journalism, and one that is skylines of major cities then and now, showing the same spots from many years back to now. it is so great! i also have out the little books 1,000 Places to See (i don't know if thats the actual title), one is for the world, one for USA and Canada. Next I want an Audrey Hepburn one!
woww that 's amazing!!! love it

I always want to buy pretty coffee table fashion books but don't have much use for them at this point in my life :( I almost bought a few at the Strand while I was in NYC this summer. You should definitely check their selection when you move to New York!

Oh coffee table books are my obsession! Love this one!
PS. Following your gorgeous blog now :) xoxo
That looks like the perfect coffee table book! I'm embarrassed to admit that I don't think I have any! I do have lots of magazines out for guests to read though. Does that count for something?

I have -- and love -- this book. It really recounts Vogue's history well. Thanks for commenting on our blog. Sounds like an amazing gym that you go to!
I like the coffee table book I received as a gift, "O's Guide to Life", which is a collection of the best articles from the Oprah Magazine. It has everything; Wisdom, Wit, Advice, Interviews and Inspiration. Who doesn't like Oprah!
I have "The One Hundred" by Nina Garcia and a book about one of my favorite painters Frida Kahlo in my coffee table. And I also have a book on cherry blossoms, because you know, I love DC.
Coffee table books-so dreamy! I have a beautiful Degas book that I love-art books are usually my pick!
i love a beautiful coffee book! i've always thought 'the art book' is a stunning addition to a table! looks like you had a great birthday-happy belated!!

Alicia,
I posted some of my favorite coffee table books on my blog. Look forward to more posts from you.
any recent issue of self service magazine! they're definitely more book than magazine :)
Taschen's Paris is an amazing book! It's so beautiful! Look into that series. Also great coffee table books are museum collection books, and you can ususally find them on sale after the exhibits pass through. Think deYoung, MOMA, Asian Art Museum. For a fun and silly celeb book, check out Vanity Fair's Hollywood. A nice Atlas is always great to have. Maps are beauitful and it is fun to open the book, point on the page, and daydream about taking a trip to a faraway place. Hehe. This posts has reminded me to pick up all my books from home now that I have a bigger place and a bigger coffee table. Let me know whic books you pick out!
haha I actually have to go to borders and read that tomorrow for a paper im writing on Vogue.
my collection is MK& A's Influence, Kate Moss Style, Marc Jacobs Memoirs, Prada, the Teen Vogue Handbook, Model, and Glamour: a history.
its pretty small so far, but Im 16... it'll grow.
