The Doughnut Plant {NYC}

The Doughnut Plant

Doughnuts remind me of Sunday mornings as a young girl. My mom bribed my sister and I with a trip to the local doughnut shop if we agreed to attend church and Sunday school. Although I love these sweat treats, before this most recent trip to The Doughnut Plant, I honestly would not have been able to tell you the last time I actually had one. I try to keep these fried pastries as a once in awhile treat because they usually leave me with a sugar crash and/or upset stomach after indulging. As massive and delectable as these doughnuts were, there was absolutely no crashing involved and they held us over well into lunchtime. It was definitely worth the morning trek through China town and I will be returning here on my next trip back east to try more of their unique flavors. Perhaps, tres leches or creme brulee!

PS: I would like to send a huge THANK YOU to Melissa for recommending this little gem!

LOVE THIS POST!! No joke I was just telling a friend that if I see a fresh sugar doughnut I think of church ... I would sit through what seemed like a century long mass and run to the hall where there would be fresh sugar doughnuts. Ha this post brought back the memories...!! Sending you a hug sweet lady!! Love the photo by the way!! <3

This has resulted in sheer joy!!! I want to run out and find a donut...just like last week at 3am when I woke up and realized I hadn't had a donut in 3 or 4 years so ran out in my pj's and fell off the gluten-free wagon surrounded by drunken college students.

Somehow I'm thinking your experience was much more high-brow and delightful.

Keep these NYC pics comin'! Love them all!!

mmmmmmmmmmmm

I only just managed to resist getting a donut tonight after dinner.

Want to know why?

I decided they weren't big enough, and I wanted this rare treat to be amazing and a smallish one just wasn't going to cut it.

*cough*

Alicia, it has been so fun following your trip to NYC! Thanks for sharing! Oh man, these doughnuts looked so good, they inspired me to indulge. A co-worker brought doughnuts in to the office this morning. While it was a tasty bite, I always crash so hard after (tummy ache too). Not doing so great now, but goodness, your photos made them seem so appealing! :) Wondeful shots!
Sheila

ps. Welcome home! :D
